A shooting along a North Austin I-35 frontage road left one person fighting for their life Friday afternoon, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. Medics responded to the area of West Yager Lane and the northbound I-35 service road, where the victim was reported in critical condition.

On July 4, the Austin Police Department investigated a deadly shooting outside Otro Pedo Sports Bar on East Braker Lane, which the department described as the city's 32nd homicide of 2026, according to the City of Austin.
In mid-May, officials were already dealing with a surge in gunfire, probing a string of at least a dozen shootings across the city, as reported by CBS Texas.
