A late-night crash into a brick wall in a north Phoenix neighborhood turned deadly early Wednesday after police responding to reports of gunfire found an injured man inside a wrecked vehicle. The crash came on the heels of reports of shots fired near 31st Avenue and Blackhawk Drive just after midnight, and investigators quickly locked down the area and worked the scene into the morning.
As reported by Arizona's Family, Phoenix officers arrived near 31st Avenue and Blackhawk Drive, just north of Beardsley Road and the Loop 101, and found the man inside the crashed vehicle. He was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. Investigators have not said whether his injuries came from the collision, the reported gunfire, or a combination of both.
