A Northeast Washington shooting spilled across the city line Wednesday, leaving one man wounded in D.C., another shot in Capitol Heights and a crash scene that temporarily shut down a major Prince George’s County road.
D.C. police responded just before 2 p.m. to the 200 block of 62nd Street NE, not far from the Capitol Heights Metro station, where officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel took him to a hospital, while a second man who had been shot was later found in Capitol Heights, according to WJLA.
Central Avenue Closure Was Lifted
Prince George’s County police shut down Central Avenue in both directions between Southern Avenue and Addison Road as investigators worked at the crash scene. The closure was later lifted, and authorities said none of the injuries were life-threatening while D.C. police had one person in custody, WJLA reported.
Police have not released the victims’ identities, a possible motive or a detailed account of how the Northeast shooting, the Capitol Heights shooting and the crash are connected. The investigation remains active as authorities work to piece together an incident that briefly turned a cross-border commute into a sprawling crime scene.
