A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. as high humidity makes outdoor conditions dangerous across Orange County and nearby parts of Central Florida.
Storm Chances Arrive After 11 A.M.
Showers and thunderstorms could develop after 11 a.m., with a 30% chance of rain and mostly sunny skies between storms. Southwest winds will run 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph, while a few stronger storms could produce wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and frequent lightning.
Tonight will stay mostly cloudy and muggy, with a low around 78. Southwest winds will continue at 10 to 15 mph, and any leftover rain should remain limited through the evening.
Rain Chances Rise Thursday Through Sunday
Thursday brings a sharper shift toward wet weather, with an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms and a high near 91. Storms could begin in the morning and continue into the afternoon, with locally heavy rainfall that could produce minor flooding in spots.
Friday through Sunday will keep the storm pattern going, with daily rain chances around 75% to 80% and afternoon thunderstorms likely. The National Weather Service says repeated storms could produce 1 to 3 inches of rain in a short time, along with lightning and strong wind gusts.
Heat Relief Is Limited
Clouds and rain will hold highs near 91 through the weekend, but heat indexes may still reach 100 to 105. Next week looks a little less stormy, with mostly sunny mornings, highs in the lower to mid-90s, and afternoon thunderstorm chances around 50%.
For Wednesday, drink plenty of water, take breaks in air conditioning or shade, and avoid strenuous outdoor work during the afternoon. Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, and move indoors immediately when thunder is heard.
