An Orlando hotel pool turned into a brief scene of chaos when witnesses say a man walked into the gated area, picked up an 8-year-old girl, and tried to leave with her before family members and bystanders stepped in. The child was quickly released, was not hurt, and several people at the scene held the man until officers arrived, according to witnesses who watched the scuffle unfold near Millenia Boulevard.
Orlando police responded to the Fairfield Inn at 3551 Millenia Blvd. after callers reported that a man had entered the pool enclosure and grabbed the girl, according to WKMG ClickOrlando. An arrest affidavit identifies the suspect as 32-year-old Rodney Eugene Bouie Jr. and states that he was not registered as a guest at the hotel when the incident happened.

The affidavit states that Bouie let go of the child after several of her relatives confronted him, then took off on foot. He allegedly stopped near a nearby car wash, where witnesses told police he dropped to the ground and began doing push-ups before a bystander detained him. “Bouie Jr. was confronted by several family members of the victim, resulting in him releasing the girl and fleeing on foot,” the affidavit notes, as reported by WKMG ClickOrlando.
