Yesterday turned into a crime scene in Oshtemo Township when a woman was fatally shot at the Colonial Manor manufactured home park, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office. The gunfire drew a flurry of 911 calls and left neighbors rattled as detectives opened a homicide investigation.
What deputies found
Deputies were dispatched around 3:25 p.m. to the mobile-home community off W KL Avenue just west of U.S. 131 after reports of two people fighting over a handgun. As those calls were coming in, dispatchers started getting additional reports of shots fired in the area.
When officers arrived, they quickly identified and detained a man believed to be involved. Inside one of the homes, deputies found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders tried to save her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to MLive.
Arrest and charges
The detained man was taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail, where he is being held on several felony charges, including homicide, officials said. Investigators have not released the names of either the man or the woman as they continue processing the scene and interviewing witnesses. The investigation remains active, FOX 17 reports.
