Overnight gunfire rattled Pittsburgh’s Homewood West neighborhood early Saturday, leaving a woman and a man wounded but in stable condition after what police believe was the same shooting incident.
Shots Ring Out Near North Dallas And Kelly
According to WPXI, Pittsburgh police officers were on a proactive patrol when they heard shots fired around North Dallas Avenue and Kelly Street at about 1:30 a.m., a public safety spokesperson said. Officers searched the area and found a woman who had been shot in the leg. She was taken to a hospital and reported in stable condition.
Police later learned that a man had walked into a different hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot. Investigators say early information indicates both victims were hurt in the same incident, WPXI reports.
Homewood’s Recent Shootings
The Homewood neighborhoods have been grappling with repeated gun incidents this year, with the city’s public safety blotter logging multiple shootings and ShotSpotter responses in Zone 5. In April, for instance, the blotter records a double shooting in Homewood West on the 700 block of North Dallas Avenue, underscoring ongoing violence in the area, per the Pittsburgh public safety blotter.
Investigation Still Active
Police say the investigation remains active and have not released any information about suspects or a possible motive. Detectives are working to clarify how the two victims are connected and who pulled the trigger, with officials saying they will release more details as they become available, according to WPXI.
