A routine afternoon bus ride in Parkville turned into a scare on Tuesday when a school bus jumped the curb and crashed into a building on Harford Road, sending a dozen people to medics and shutting down a busy stretch of the corridor, according to Baltimore County fire officials.
The collision happened in the 7900 block of Harford Road. Fire officials said twelve people were injured in the crash. Two adults and two children were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries, while eight others were treated at the scene and declined transport.
Crews closed Harford Road near Taylor Avenue as firefighters, medics and other responders worked the scene, urging drivers to steer clear and find alternate routes until the wreckage could be cleared and the building checked for safety issues.
According to WMAR-2 News, the Baltimore County Fire Department handled the emergency response and provided the initial patient counts. The station reported that medics triaged multiple patients on site while crews secured the crash area and stabilized the scene.

The Parkville crash lands on the heels of another high-profile bus collision in Baltimore County, adding fuel to growing concerns about bus safety.
Less than two weeks ago, a Maryland Transit Administration bus slammed into a FedEx building in Pikesville, injuring more than 30 people and triggering a mass-casualty response. That July 8 wreck brought in medevac helicopters and Shock Trauma teams and remains under review, according to CBS Baltimore. County officials have stressed that both incidents will undergo thorough investigations.

Investigators have not yet released a cause for the Parkville crash. Typical probes involve interviewing witnesses, examining the bus and any other vehicles involved, and reviewing onboard systems where equipment is available.
In the meantime, drivers in the Harford Road and Taylor Avenue area should be ready for intermittent lane or road closures while recovery work continues and any needed utility or structural checks are completed.
