Starting July 22, pages from Mike McCready’s long-gestating graphic novel Farewell to Seasons will leave the layout table and hit the walls at Mutual Arts Collective in Pike Place Market. The show pulls selected pages from the book and reimagines them as standalone works, giving Seattle fans an early peek at the visuals. The gallery says it will partner with SMASH, the local nonprofit that helps musicians access health services, and McCready, best known as Pearl Jam’s guitarist, has composed original music to accompany the book.
What’s on view
The exhibition at Mutual Arts Collective opens July 22 and offers “an exclusive first look at pages from Farewell to Seasons reimagined as standalone works of art,” according to JAM Broadcasting. The gallery sits on the top floor of the Corner Market Building at Pike Place Market, directly across from Matt’s in the Market, per Pike Place Market's vendor listing. Organizers say the presentation treats sequential comic pages like gallery pieces, with framed and large-scale prints in place of traditional book spreads.
Graphic novel and soundtrack
Farewell to Seasons is being released by Z2 Comics and is scheduled to ship in October 2026 in multiple editions, including deluxe packages that bundle a vinyl “lost” rock-opera soundtrack. Z2’s shop credits McCready and co-writer Mark Sable, with Sebastián Piriz on art and R. Kikuo Johnson providing the cover. The project has been described as a “historical fantasy” of Seattle’s music scene and has been in development for roughly two decades, as reported by Forbes.
Local tie and charity
Mutual Arts Collective was co-founded by McCready with his wife Ashley OConnor McCready and collaborator Chris Adams, and it emphasizes work by artists impacted by structural inequities, according to the market listing. For this exhibition, the gallery says it will partner with Seattle Musicians Access to Sustainable Healthcare (SMASH), which connects Seattle-area musicians to free and low-cost medical, dental, mental-health and hearing services. The collaboration turns the show into both an early preview of McCready’s graphic novel and a local benefit that supports musician health programs.
Where to see it and what’s next
The Mutual Arts Collective show opens July 22 in Pike Place ahead of the book’s October release and gives visitors a chance to see the original art up close. McCready is scheduled to discuss Farewell to Seasons and appear at Z2’s presence at San Diego Comic-Con, which runs July 23–26, according to 97X's coverage of the convention lineup. Collectors can already pre-order multiple editions through Z2, which lists standard, deluxe and signed platinum versions on its shop pages.
