A quiet Thursday morning in Bridge City turned deadly when a pickup truck slammed into a parked minivan and shoved it straight into a house near the intersection of State Highway 62 and State Highway 87, killing the van’s driver and injuring a resident inside.
Crash details and timeline
Around 5:30 a.m., a pickup heading south on TX 62 went through the intersection with TX 87, then turned into a private driveway and hit a parked Dodge Caravan, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety, as reported by Beaumont Enterprise. The impact pushed the minivan into the nearby home, turning an ordinary early-morning scene into an active crash investigation.
First responders shut down the immediate area while troopers documented the scene and worked to sort out exactly how the collision unfolded. Authorities have not said whether any charges are expected.
Victim identified and injuries
Texas DPS identified the man who died as 67-year-old Gambino Carranza of Bridge City. He was taken from the scene to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to local outlets.
The 69-year-old driver of the pickup was not hurt, and a 61-year-old woman who was inside the house at the time of impact was taken to a hospital with injuries that officials described as not life-threatening, per Fox4Beaumont. Authorities have not released the names of the surviving individuals.
