The killing unfolded along a stretch of Ella Boulevard that precinct officials say has generated repeated weapons-related calls and prompted extra patrols by Precinct 4 deputies in recent months. A prior shots-fired incident at the nearby Venti Apartments on the 14300 block of Ella Boulevard drew a similar law-enforcement response. Officials have said that pattern of calls has led to additional patrols and regular public alerts from the constable’s office along the 14300 to 13900 blocks.

Investigators searched the surrounding area for a suspect described as a tall Hispanic man with a mustache and beard, last seen in a black tank top and black jeans, according to Click2Houston.
