A man is being sought after police say he held three men at gunpoint during an attempted robbery at a popular Shaw skate park. The victims escaped without injuries, but the alleged gunman left before officers arrived.
Suspect Allegedly Demanded $20 From Each Victim
According to WJLA, Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to Shaw Skate Park Wednesday evening for a reported robbery. Police found three men who said a man had held them at gunpoint and demanded $20 from each of them.
The alleged robbery appears to have fizzled before the suspect got what he wanted. Nothing was taken from the victims, and none of the three men was injured, according to police.
The suspect fled before officers arrived in a gray Lexus sedan, WJLA reported. Police have not publicly identified him, and the initial report did not announce an arrest.
Police Ask Public For Information
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to call MPD at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411. The department routinely directs witnesses to use those channels in robbery investigations, as outlined in an MPD public alert.
The case remains under investigation, and police have not said whether surveillance footage or additional witnesses could help identify the driver of the Lexus.
