Pomona’s 24-hour WinCo turned into an early-morning police scene Wednesday, with workers and shoppers evacuated as officers entered carrying guns and a robotic dog followed behind. The store was temporarily shut down while officers investigated, though employees were later allowed back inside.
At around 5:15 a.m., about a dozen officers entered the supermarket with guns drawn, according to NBC Los Angeles. Another group followed with a police robotic dog, but the report did not identify what prompted the response.
Employees Returned After The Store Was Shut Down
WinCo remained closed as the investigation continued, and employees were allowed to return at about 6:30 a.m. Police then left the scene, according to the report. It was not immediately clear whether the store had reopened to customers.
No Explanation Released Yet
As of the initial report Wednesday morning, authorities had not released details about a suspect, possible threat, arrests or injuries. NBC Los Angeles said no further information was immediately available.
