Two people were shot early Sunday morning in the parking lot of a Speedway on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh, leaving both with what police described as minor injuries. Officers arrived to find a man and a woman sitting on a curb near the pumps and quickly stretched police tape across the station as they began processing the scene. Raleigh police say the investigation remains active and no suspect information has been released.
The shooting was reported around 5 a.m. Sunday at the Speedway at 850 Capital Blvd., near Peace Street, according to WRAL. WRAL's breaking-news tracker arrived shortly after 5:30 a.m. and described officers speaking with people seated on the curb as the scene unfolded under flashing blue lights.
"The victims were transported to a hospital with minor injuries," Raleigh police told WRAL. Police kept tape stretched across the gas pumps while detectives documented evidence, and officials said the investigation is ongoing.
Separate Overnight Shooting in Brier Creek
In a separate case, police also investigated a late-night shooting in the Brier Creek area that left two bystanders hurt near a Target and the Regal Brier Creek movie theater. Officers said that incident involved teenagers, according to ABC11. Authorities treated that episode as unrelated to the shooting at the Speedway.
What Police Are Saying So Far
Raleigh police have not released suspect descriptions in the Speedway shooting, and investigators continue to work the scene. In cases like this, detectives commonly review nearby surveillance footage and canvass the area for witnesses as they piece together what led up to the gunfire.
