A quiet stretch of Live Oak Boulevard turned into a crime scene early Monday when a 45-year-old Live Oak man was arrested after a stabbing outside the L & R gas station. The victim was taken to Adventist Health and Rideout in Marysville with injuries that authorities say are expected to improve.

Sutter County Sheriff’s deputies say the attack unfolded at about 3 a.m. The victim told investigators he knew the suspect and was able to identify him. A short time later, deputies tracked the suspect down near Pennington Road and Highway 99 and took him into custody.
The sheriff’s office identified the arrested man as 45-year-old Lester Nelson, who was booked into the Sutter County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, according to The Sacramento Bee.

The stabbing took place outside L & R Gas & Food on the 9500 block of Live Oak Boulevard, a neighborhood convenience store and fuel stop that serves the surrounding community. Public records list the store’s address as 9545 Live Oak Boulevard, according to California Lottery retailer documents.

The victim was transported to Adventist Health and Rideout in Marysville and is expected to recover, according to authorities.
