A fast-moving fire on the 1500 block of Rainier Ave S lit up part of South Seattle on Tuesday afternoon before crews moved in, knocked it down and started tearing into the building to make sure nothing was still burning out of sight.
According to updates on X from the Seattle Fire Department, firefighters quickly got water on the flames and then shifted into the slow, methodical work of searching for any hidden fire that might still be smoldering inside walls or ceilings.

The department's posts noted that crews had the fire knocked down and were in the "checking for extension" phase, but did not list any injuries, evacuations or a suspected cause as of Tuesday afternoon.
