A Memphis mother is now behind bars in connection with the killing of a young father whose body was found inside an abandoned house in Raleigh, after he vanished on what was supposed to be a routine family day.
Detectives say cellphone records and recorded jail calls helped them zero in on members of a Memphis household as they worked to unravel how the case of a missing dad turned into a homicide investigation.
Bridgit Riley is charged with accessory to first-degree murder and tampering with evidence and was booked into the Shelby County Jail on a $10,000 bond, according to court records. Jail-call recordings cited in those documents reportedly include mentions of photos of Riley's son inside the victim's vehicle and conversations about destroying the son's phone, according to FOX13 Memphis.
What Happened And Where
Family members reported Robert Grove missing after they say he failed to come home in late October to take his mother to work and pick up his 1-year-old child. His Chevrolet Avalanche later turned up at an apartment complex, with blood found inside the truck, and his body was discovered on Nov. 2, 2025, in the 3300 block of Egypt Central Road in the Raleigh neighborhood of Memphis, according to ActionNews5.
How Investigators Say They Connected Riley
Court filings reviewed by FOX13 Memphis state that investigators pulled cellphone data that led them to a phone number tied to a student at Raleigh-Egypt High School. According to those documents, the student's mother was identified as Bridgit Riley.
The filings describe recorded calls that investigators say included references to photos and to the victim's car, details that prosecutors point to as part of the effort to link Riley to what happened after Grove was killed.
Charges And What Comes Next
Accessory to first-degree murder and tampering with evidence are both felony counts, and the court filings connect those charges to the 2025 killing in the Raleigh area. Authorities say the investigation is still active, and no trial dates have been set.
Grove's family previously told local reporters they had been searching on their own after his truck was found, holding out hope that investigators would bring answers. Anyone with information is urged to contact Memphis police, according to ActionNews5.
