
An early Sunday stabbing in Rancho Cordova left one man dead and another injured after an argument turned violent near Mather Field, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. Deputies were called around 1 a.m. to the area of El Mercado Drive and Chettenham Drive, just north of Mather Field.
Scene and response
When deputies arrived, they found one adult man suffering from a stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second adult man was taken to a hospital to be treated for a laceration to the head, according to KCRA Channel 3 Sacramento.
The sheriff's office said the initial 911 call reported an argument in the area. Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives were called out, and officials said several people who were at the scene will be interviewed as part of what they describe as an active and ongoing investigation.
