A collision was partially blocking the southbound I-5 collector-distributor ramp to I-90 in Seattle Thursday afternoon, creating a fresh obstacle at one of the region’s busiest freeway junctions. The incident was reported in a 12:44 p.m. update.
According to WSDOT Traffic, the crash was at milepost 165 on the ramp connecting southbound I-5 with I-90. The update did not say whether anyone was injured, how many vehicles were involved or when the ramp would fully reopen.
What Seattle Drivers Should Expect
The alert described a partial ramp blockage rather than a full closure of I-5 or I-90, but drivers using the connection should still expect slower traffic near the interchange. Motorists should watch for emergency crews, leave extra time and call 911 to report any road hazards.
The incident comes as Seattle’s I-5 corridor continues to deal with changing lane patterns from the Revive I-5 project. The Seattle Department of Transportation says northbound I-5 across the Ship Canal Bridge is operating with a two-lane reduction through the end of 2026 and advises travelers to check conditions before heading out.
