A Seneca man is sitting in the Oconee County Detention Center after deputies say a Corinth Drive confrontation turned into a burglary and domestic violence case over the weekend. James Christopher Brown, 42, was booked into the jail and, as of Monday, remained there pending a bond hearing.
According to an update on the sheriff’s office’s X
, Brown is accused of entering a residence without consent and assaulting an adult woman inside by shoving and grabbing her. Deputies said he was reportedly carrying brass knuckles, and investigators noted visible injuries on the victim. The agency said the case remains under investigation.

Under South Carolina law, first-degree burglary is a felony punishable by life imprisonment, and domestic violence in the first degree is also a felony, according to the South Carolina Code of Laws on burglary and the South Carolina Code of Laws on domestic violence. Brown's case will now move into the court process, where the allegations can be weighed against evidence.
