A New York man will spend nine to 18 years in state prison after a 2024 bank-robbery spree moved across Bucks, Montgomery and Delaware counties. The sentence brings a hard stop to a case that ended with an arrest outside a Bensalem bank, a bag of cash in hand.
Marc Masich, 48, of Amherst, New York, was sentenced Thursday after entering a no-contest plea to one first-degree felony robbery charge and pleading guilty to five other felony robbery counts, according to NBC10 Philadelphia. Prosecutors said the court imposed consecutive 18-to-36-month terms, adding up to the nine-to-18-year total.
How The Bensalem Arrest Broke The Case
The spree’s final afternoon came on Dec. 23, 2024, in Bensalem. According to Daily Voice, Masich first tried to get money from a TD Bank, left a nearby Santander after employees told him to lower his mask, and then ran from a PNC branch with about $4,000 before officers detained him outside.
Investigators said the same demand-note pattern tied Masich to three November robberies: Santander branches in Langhorne and North Wales, plus a Truist bank in Newtown Square. The Montgomery Township Police Department said its North Wales case involved a teller receiving a note before the suspect fled, with no employees or bystanders injured.
Prosecutors said Masich confessed during a police interview to the robberies and attempted robberies, as NBC10 Philadelphia reported. The investigation ultimately connected incidents in several municipalities, turning what initially looked like separate bank crimes into one regional case.
Sentence Includes Restitution And No-Contact Order
Beyond prison time, Masich was ordered to pay $20,255 in restitution and stay away from the six financial institutions and six employees involved. The court’s order adds a financial penalty and direct-contact restrictions to a sentence that will keep the 48-year-old behind bars for years.
