A familiar Columbus pizza crew has quietly dropped a new name into the crowded Ohio State dining orbit: Uncle Frico’s Pizza, a new shop operating inside Rambler’s student-apartment complex near campus. The concept comes from the Sexton’s Pizza team, giving students another nearby place to chase a slice when late-night cravings kick in.

Columbus Business First reported today that Rambler has added Uncle Frico’s to its on-site food and beverage lineup, describing it as a new shop and new name from a popular local pizza purveyor. The report does not include a grand-opening date, full menu or hours for the concept.

A New Pizza Name In A Familiar Campus Building

Rambler’s own neighborhood guide had previously marketed Side Piece Pies as a chef-driven pizza option inside the same campus-area complex. That makes Uncle Frico’s look less like a random new arrival and more like a fresh identity in a high-traffic student-housing ecosystem, although the public information available so far does not spell out the relationship between the two concepts.

Sexton’s Keeps Expanding Beyond Its Original Slice Shops

Uncle Frico’s is the latest sign that Sexton’s is still widening its footprint beyond its original food-truck roots. Columbus Underground previously reported that brothers Joey and Jamey Sexton partnered with former Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller on Sexton’s Burger Bar in Gahanna, while Hoodline covered the company’s March arrival at the Little Grand Market in Grandview Heights.

The brand has also continued building its central Ohio presence, with a Lewis Center location added after its Gahanna, Hilliard and Harrison West shops, according to What Now Columbus. The new campus-area concept gives the company an outpost aimed at a particularly concentrated audience: students, game-day crowds and pedestrians looking for something more substantial than another vending-machine dinner.

Another Pizza Contender For North Campus

Uncle Frico’s is entering a corridor that already treats pizza as a food group. Tasting Table recently included Sexton’s, Hounddog’s and Adriatico’s among its Columbus pizza picks, making the Ohio State-area newcomer part of an already crowded local slice conversation.

For now, the biggest unanswered questions are practical ones: whether Uncle Frico’s will have its own hours, menu, delivery footprint or a formal launch event. The new name is already out near Ohio State, though, and with students returning for the fall semester, campus pizza competition is about to get a lot more crowded—and a lot more cheesy.
