A quiet Monday afternoon on Jacksonville’s Westside turned tense as a heavy Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office presence rushed into a neighborhood near 103rd Street after reports of shots fired. Officers, K-9 units and an aerial unit were seen sweeping the area around Susie Street, just north of 103rd Street and west of I-295, while nearby roads were blocked off and investigators got to work.
According to News4JAX, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said officers were responding to a report of shots fired on the Westside when they located the scene on Susie Street. As of the outlet’s latest update, JSO had not released information on whether anyone was injured or if any arrests had been made.
“A News4JAX crew on the scene could see multiple police vehicles, K9s and a helicopter overhead,” News4JAX reported, describing the situation as still developing while detectives secured and examined the area.
