As reported by WSYX, surveillance video shows a Hyundai smashing through the security gate at Powder Room Firearms shortly before 3 a.m. on July 16, then trying to punch a hole in the building’s wall. Audio from the footage captures someone yelling as a person bolts from the car and runs to a waiting vehicle. Investigators told the station they believe the cars used in the attempt were stolen from a nearby Columbus neighborhood.
Owner: layers of security kept suspects out
Owner Steve Yuszka told WSYX he was “not surprised” the shop was targeted and credited parking lot barriers, concrete blocks and steel pipes with stopping the intruders. “It did make me feel good that the wall held up fine,” Yuszka said, adding a warning for would-be thieves to “stop before you get hurt because sometimes things don't end up the way you think.”
