Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to fire up by midafternoon, with the most widespread activity likely between about 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. The chance of rain sits near 80 percent. The National Weather Service warns that some storms could bring damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning and brief heavy downpours, with gusts near 20–21 mph.
Most neig,hborhoods should only see a few tenths of an inch of rain, but any stronger cell could briefly dump heavier rain and sharply cut visibility, which will already be hampered by the smoky haze.
