On Tuesday, Knoxville restaurateur Dustin Cochran quietly debuted WokXville, a gluten-free Asian concept tucked inside Kern's Food Hall in South Knoxville. The compact stall, which leans hard into its gluten-free identity, joins Cochran's growing cluster of counters inside the hall.
WokXville Arrives At Kern's
WokXville shows up on the Kern's Food Hall tenant list as a coming-soon vendor promising customizable stir-fry bowls, noodle and rice dishes, and what it calls “modern comfort food.” The food hall is listed at 2201 Kern's Rising Way, according to Kern's Bakery. Cochran's Growing Footprint
Cochran is no stranger to Kern's. He already runs multiple concepts inside the food hall, including Disco Chicken & Donuts, Myrtle's Bakehouse and T. The Disco Chicken website states that the menu is 100% gluten-free and includes an allergen chart for diners, offering a ready point of comparison for WokXville's own gluten-free-forward branding, per Disco Chicken & Donuts.
What To Expect From WokXville
The Kern's tenant page describes WokXville as serving bold Asian flavors with fast, customizable bowls and chef-inspired sauces, language that points to familiar stir-fry and noodle formats rather than a formal sit-down experience, according to Kern's Bakery. The “Coming Soon” tag on the listing suggests the stall may currently be in a soft-open or pre-launch phase, so customers should rely on in-hall signage or vendors' social channels for the latest on hours and menu details.
Cochran has also talked about expanding some of his gluten-free operations beyond the food hall footprint, with Disco Chicken scheduled for a larger spot at Covenant Health Park this fall, which makes WokXville a logical test bed for future rollouts, according to Knoxville News Sentinel.
