South Tampa is getting a fresh dose of Philly, as Philly Pretzel Factory plants a flag on Kennedy Boulevard with a new "Coming Soon" shop at 4231 W. Kennedy Blvd. The Philadelphia-born chain is lining up to join the breakfast and grab-and-go crowd along the busy corridor, although the company has not yet posted an opening date or operating hours.
The planned South Tampa outpost was first reported by the Tampa Bay Business Journal, which notes the brand sells pretzel hot dogs, pretzel pizzas and cheesesteaks and has more than 175 locations nationwide, including four in Florida. That report ran Wednesday.
Where It Will Land
On its own location finder, Philly Pretzel Factory lists the South Tampa spot at 4231 W. Kennedy Blvd. with a simple "Coming Soon" tag. The listing does not yet include hours, and the company is nudging would-be customers to sign up for its Pretzel Rewards program to get store updates.
What Is On The Menu
Beyond its classic hand-twisted salted pretzels and bite-sized rivets, the chain’s other locations serve items such as pretzel dogs, cheesesteaks and pretzel-style pizza, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal. Those snacks are typically paired with dipping sauces and a lineup of lemonades that the brand promotes for both catering orders and walk-up traffic.
Growth Spurt And Footprint
Philly Pretzel Factory has been steadily building its Florida presence this year. In January the company announced a new Palm Beach Gardens store and said it had surpassed more than 190 locations nationwide, according to a Philly Pretzel Factory news release. The company framed that opening as part of a wider franchise push into additional state markets.
How It Fits In Tampa Bay
The chain first cracked the Tampa Bay market in 2018 with a Riverview location, a move that signaled its intent to grow a regional footprint, according to Creative Loafing Tampa. The South Tampa shop would place the brand closer to dense neighborhoods and the steady commuter and lunchtime traffic running along Kennedy.
The company has not yet announced a grand-opening date or hiring details for the South Tampa store. For now, the "Coming Soon" note on the location page is the only public signal that pretzels are on the way, and it suggests the debut could still be months out.
