A midweek apartment robbery on Southport Road in Spartanburg escalated into a rolling police pursuit across multiple highways and ended with a violent church-side head-on crash on SC Highway 176. Officers said several suspects bailed out of the wrecked car and ran, but K-9 teams and deputies quickly moved in. Four people are now in custody, and authorities said no one suffered life-threatening injuries.
Spartanburg officers were first called to an apartment where three masked suspects armed with guns walked in without knocking, demanded cash and valuables, and then took off in a black Toyota Corolla, according to WYFF. The victim told investigators he recognized one of the masked intruders as someone he knew.
Not long after the robbery, an officer spotted a Corolla matching the description near John B. White Sr. Boulevard and tried to pull it over on the I-26 on-ramp. Instead of stopping, the driver hit the gas, kicking off a pursuit that stretched onto I-26, then northbound I-85, before looping back onto local roads, as reported by FOX Carolina. The chase ended when the car crossed the center line on SC Highway 176 in front of First Baptist Church North Spartanburg and slammed head-on into another vehicle.
After the crash, three male occupants bolted from the car while a female passenger stayed inside. Officers quickly set up a perimeter and brought in K-9 units, which helped track down and detain the fleeing suspects, according to WYFF. Police said the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office assisted in the response. Kline and McCoy were booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center, Harold was taken to a hospital with a head injury, and the 16-year-old was taken to the South Carolina Department of Justice.
An employee at Lucky Stars Tobacco and Vape said watching officers swarm the area and search for a weapon was "kind of jarring" as the manhunt unfolded, FOX Carolina reports. Police identified the four suspects as 24-year-old Marquis Janis Harold, 18-year-old Jaiden Douglas McCoy, 20-year-old Braelyn Christopher Kline, and a 16-year-old girl. They face charges that include kidnapping, armed robbery, first-degree burglary, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Investigators say Kline is also charged with failure to stop for blue lights, and Harold faces additional narcotics-related counts, according to FOX Carolina. Booking records show Kline and McCoy were booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center and are pending bond hearings; Harold was taken to a hospital. The investigation remains active.
