A quick stop at an On the Run on Mid Rivers Mall Drive turned into a six-figure surprise for a St. Peters woman, who scored a $100,000 Missouri Lottery prize off a $5 '50X' scratcher ticket. The big win came when one of the quick-purchase tickets she grabbed turned out to be a top-tier winner. She said she plans to share some of the cash and is determined to track down the clerk who sold her the lucky ticket.
Winner, Store And Reaction
In a press release via the Missouri Lottery, officials identified the winning retailer as On the Run, 203 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Peters, and included the winner's account of how the windfall happened.
"Normally, I play the crosswords, but I just happened to pick up a couple of (these), and one was a winner," she said in the release. She added that she is not keeping the good fortune entirely to herself: "I'm gonna track down the young man who sold me the ticket and give him some money, too."
Local Coverage
Local media were quick to jump on the story. As reported by FOX 2, the Missouri Lottery announced the win this week, confirming the prize amount, the store location, and that the lucky ticket was a top-prize hit on a $5 scratcher.
Game Totals And Odds
The '50X' scratcher is a $5 game with a $100,000 top prize that launched June 30, 2025, and has average odds of about 1 in 4.03, according to the Missouri Lottery game page.
The Lottery's prize tracker shows players have already claimed more than $15.19 million from the game, while roughly $1.09 million in prizes remain unclaimed. Among the prizes still out there are three $20,000 wins and two $5,000 wins.
Winners must present their tickets to claim prizes, and the Lottery urges players to check their tickets promptly. For now, the St. Peters shopper says she is focused on spreading a little generosity and enjoying a healthier bank account after one very lucky $5 impulse buy.
