Stellantis is recalling just over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks worldwide because a second-row seat belt anchor may not be properly attached to the vehicle body. The defect could leave rear-seat occupants with less protection in a crash, putting a massive swath of Ram owners on notice.
Recall Covers Ram 1500 Trucks From 2019 Through 2026
The recall covers model years 2019 through 2026, with about 1.27 million affected trucks in the United States, according to Reuters. The campaign also includes roughly 156,000 vehicles in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and about 75,000 elsewhere outside North America.
The potentially faulty component is the anchor for either the second-row center seat belt or the second-row driver-side seat belt. Stellantis said the attachment problem could affect the performance of the second-row restraint system and increase the risk of injury, while the company is aware of one potentially related injury, Reuters reported.
Metro Detroit Plant Is Closely Tied To Ram 1500 Production
The recall has a direct connection to metro Detroit, where Stellantis operates the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. The automaker says the Michigan facility remains the primary home for Ram 1500 production, including both gas-powered and electrified versions, according to Stellantis.
Sterling Heights Assembly also celebrated production of its two millionth Ram 1500 in April 2025, underscoring how many trucks from the plant have entered the North American market. The recall affects vehicles across several model years and markets, so it is not limited to trucks currently sitting on dealer lots.
Owners Can Check Their VIN For Recall Status
Ram owners should check their vehicle identification number through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall database and watch for a mailed notice from Stellantis. NHTSA cautions that some newly announced recalls may not appear immediately, and says manufacturers generally must notify registered owners by first-class mail within 60 days of notifying the agency.
Once the remedy is available, safety recall repairs are generally provided at no cost through authorized dealerships. Until owners receive specific instructions, the key question is simple: whether a particular truck is included in the campaign, which can depend on its VIN rather than just its model year.
