A Stockton alley where two people were found shot last week is now the center of a double-homicide case, with police saying they have arrested a 40-year-old suspect. The arrest brings a major break in the investigation, but authorities still have not identified the victims or released a possible motive.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting near North Pershing Avenue and Rose Marie Lane last Friday night. According to CBS Sacramento, officers found a 58-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds in an alley and provided first aid before both were taken to a local hospital, where they died.
The shooting happened in Stockton’s Lakeview District, where police said the two adult victims were transported to a hospital after the gunfire. Stocktonia News reported that the victims’ identities had not been released as investigators worked the scene.
After several days of investigation, detectives identified Nathan Miller as the suspect, police said. Stockton police detectives and task force officers located him in Stockton on Thursday and arrested him without incident, and he was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of double homicide, according to CBS Sacramento.
Victims And Motive Remain Unknown
Police have not released a possible motive for the shooting and have not publicly identified either victim. The available information describes Miller’s booking as being on suspicion of double homicide; it does not establish a conviction or explain what investigators believe led to the killings.
The arrest comes after a particularly violent stretch in Stockton. Stocktonia News reported that the city recorded seven homicides in June, compared with one in June 2025, and 16 homicides during the first six months of 2026 compared with 18 during the same period last year.
