A pre-dawn traffic stop in Goodlettsville spiraled into chaos early Friday when police say the driver of a stolen Jaguar hit a patrol vehicle while fleeing, then sped off, triggering a manhunt and sending two officers to the hospital.

According to WSMV, the trouble started around 12:30 a.m. when the city’s license plate readers flagged a stolen black Jaguar XF. Officers tracked the car to an apartment complex off Alta Loma Road and tried to intercept it.

Police identified the driver as 30-year-old Jordan Termaine Barbee and say he allegedly rammed his Jaguar into a patrol vehicle, then took off toward Gallatin Pike in Madison. Additional patrol units followed, and during that response, two officers were involved in a separate crash. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As of early Friday morning, officers said Barbee had managed to slip away. Authorities believe he had a handgun in the vehicle and describe him as potentially armed, warning the public not to approach him.

Who police are looking for

Barbee is described as about 5'7" and roughly 230 pounds. Police say he has an extensive criminal history and active warrants in Robertson and Montgomery counties.

The Goodlettsville Police Department lists an emergency phone line at 615-859-3405 and a crime tip line at 615-851-2259. Officials are asking anyone with information to call rather than confront the suspect. Tips and crash reports can also be submitted through the department’s online tools.

What happens next

Investigators say the search for Barbee is ongoing and that the department is working with neighboring jurisdictions to track him down. No new charges have been announced at this time.

Police say they will share more details as they become available and are asking any witnesses, especially those with video or other potential evidence, to contact authorities.
