Two Wentzville high schools are dealing with some unwelcome summer drama, as police investigate separate vandalism incidents that left a football trailer damaged and a small fire burning behind a baseball field. Officers say nothing was stolen, and so far there are no suspects.
According to First Alert 4, the trouble started June 15, when staff discovered damage to a football trailer on school property. Investigators found a cut wiring harness, dents and interior damage. Then on July 14, security at Timberland High School heard a loud popping sound near the baseball complex, spotted juveniles in the area, and witnesses reported seeing fireworks before a small fire was found behind the field. Police told the outlet they have no leads in either case.
A spokesperson for the Wentzville R-IV School District told First Alert 4, “Vandalism is not tolerated, and any necessary student discipline will be handled in accordance with the District’s Code of Conduct.” The district said it is working with law enforcement as the investigations continue.
