
Two people were found shot Wednesday afternoon near Mount Vernon Square in Northwest D.C., with one victim reportedly unconscious and not breathing and the other rushed to a hospital in critical condition. The shooting brought a heavy emergency response to a busy area just east of the Washington Convention Center.
D.C. police were called around 2:30 p.m. to the 1300 block of 5th Street NW, according to NBC4 Washington. Investigators had not immediately said whether the victims were found outside or inside a home or another building.
Police Look For Vehicle Seen Leaving Area
Yellow caution tape stretched across the roadway as officers worked the scene. Police said a white Honda with red graphics was seen leaving the area, but no description of a suspect or possible motive was immediately released.
The condition of the second victim remained critical, while the status of the victim found unconscious and not breathing was not immediately detailed. NBC4 Washington reported that the investigation was still developing Wednesday afternoon, with more details expected as police process the scene.
