West LA is about to get a new post-workout poke stop. Feisty Fish Poke, the Hawaiian-inspired yellowfin tuna operation that has been serving customers from a food truck, is opening a permanent location at West LA Athletics next Thursday.
The opening event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to the public, according to Yo! Venice!. The celebration is scheduled to include free poke samples, a DJ and a noon ribbon-cutting, while the truck continues operating elsewhere around Los Angeles.
Yellowfin Tuna Bowls With A Westside Home Base
Feisty Fish Poke's menu centers on yellowfin tuna marinated in flavors including yuzu ponzu, spicy mayo, teriyaki and oyster sauce. The company website lists bowls such as Ponzu Scheme, Fuego Mayo, Sea Candy, Aw Shucks and Captain's Choice, with rice, seaweed salad and cucumber included with the standard offerings.
The new location is expected to operate daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., giving regulars a predictable stop instead of having to track down the truck's next market or event. The business says its mission is to bring Hawaiian-inspired poke to Los Angeles while emphasizing freshness, sustainability and convenience, as outlined on its official website.
A Poke Counter Inside A CrossFit Gym
West LA Athletics describes itself as a CrossFit and functional fitness facility serving the West Los Angeles area, making the partnership a particularly efficient setup for anyone who likes to follow a hard workout with a bowl of raw tuna. The gym's official site says it offers group fitness, personal training, nutrition services and recovery amenities including an ice bath and sauna.
The Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce lists Feisty Fish Poke as a trailer food business focused on catering, events, night markets and farmers markets, and identifies Jeffrey Harris as its representative. The permanent West LA base gives the mobile business a daily storefront without requiring it to abandon the roaming food-truck model that helped build its following.
For Thursday's opening, the Venice Chamber of Commerce is promoting the event as a welcome for one of its newest members, Yo! Venice! reports. After the ribbon is cut, customers will be able to return for poke every day rather than waiting for the next truck sighting.
