
A quiet stretch of Chicago’s West Ridge neighborhood turned into a crime scene early Wednesday when a 26-year-old man was found critically wounded after a stabbing on the North Side. Officers discovered him on the 6200 block of North Oakley Avenue and rushed him to a hospital in Evanston, while the attacker remained on the loose and detectives launched an investigation.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago police said the man suffered stab wounds to his chest and shoulder and was discovered at about 1:22 a.m. The outlet reports he was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was listed in critical condition. Area 3 detectives have been assigned to handle the case, the Sun-Times added.
FOX 32 Chicago also placed the stabbing on the 6200 block of North Oakley and reported that police had not yet identified a suspect. The station said the victim remained in critical condition at St. Francis Hospital and noted that officers were asking anyone with information to come forward.
Authorities have not released a suspect description or a possible motive, and investigators were urging witnesses to contact police, the Sun-Times reports. As of Wednesday morning, there were no reported arrests. This story will be updated if police release additional details.
