A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Detroit’s Davison Freeway earlier today, bringing a sudden and deadly end to a late-night run along one of the city’s busiest roads. Michigan State Police said the crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. on eastbound M-8 near Oakland Avenue.
According to WXYZ-TV, investigators said the woman was running on the freeway when she was hit by a passing vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and the eastbound lanes were temporarily closed before reopening.
Investigators Still Have Basic Questions
Police have not explained why the woman entered the freeway, and the available report did not identify her. No additional details about the driver or any possible citations were immediately released.
The crash comes months after another fatal freeway pedestrian incident in Detroit. In March, a 24-year-old woman was struck and killed on the Lodge Freeway after emergency dispatchers received calls about someone walking along the roadway, CBS News Detroit reported.
