New York sports fans are about to get another streaming-service shuffle, with the Yankees, Knicks, Rangers and several other hometown teams leaving the Gotham Sports app for DAZN. The move will put the region’s local baseball, basketball and hockey broadcasts behind a new digital front door just as the 2026-27 NBA and NHL seasons get underway.
The migration will include local games for the New York Yankees, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils, according to CNBC. The report says YES Network and MSG Networks are moving their direct-to-consumer streaming offerings to DAZN, while the Gotham Sports joint venture is being left behind.
For customers who already receive YES Network or MSG Networks through a pay-TV bundle, the games will be available on DAZN without an additional streaming charge, CNBC reports. Fans who subscribe directly will have to wait for pricing details, which had not been released as of Wednesday.
Gotham Sports Was Supposed To Be The One-Stop App
The Gotham Sports app launched in October 2024 as a shared streaming home for YES Network and MSG Networks, bringing more than 500 live games under one login, according to the YES Network. It replaced the need for fans to bounce between the standalone YES and MSG streaming products, at least until the next platform change arrived.
The current direct-to-consumer pricing gives a sense of what is at stake for subscribers. A February announcement from the YES Network listed YES at $209.99 annually, while the combined Gotham bundle cost $299.99 per year after repricing.
That means the big unanswered question is not whether fans will still be able to stream the games, but how DAZN will package them. The new arrangement could simplify access for households that already pay for a qualifying television plan, while standalone viewers may be comparing team-specific options, broader bundles and another monthly bill.
The Switch Comes As Regional Sports Streaming Keeps Evolving
YES Network launched its own subscription streaming product in 2023 before joining MSG Networks in the Gotham venture, according to CNBC. Now those same local rights are moving again, reflecting the increasingly mobile nature of regional sports television and the pressure on networks to reach fans outside traditional cable packages.
The change is expected during the upcoming NBA and NHL seasons, but the companies have not announced a precise switchover date or the final DAZN subscription structure. Until then, Gotham Sports subscribers may want to keep an eye on renewal notices and team-specific streaming information rather than assume the app’s current setup will carry into the fall.
