A 19-year-old is in critical condition after four young males allegedly opened fire on a gray Honda Civic Monday evening on Houston’s south side, sending police searching for the shooters.

Houston police responded shortly after 7:45 p.m. to the area of Tierwester Street and Corder Street, where officers found the Civic in a ditch with two teens inside, according to FOX 26 Houston. Investigators believe the incident may have started as a robbery after the teens met several other young males at a park and later drove away.

Police Say Suspects Ran Down Corder Street

Officials said the group got out of another vehicle and fired into the Honda, striking the 19-year-old. The other teen inside the car was not injured and was providing information to investigators, while the injured victim’s identity had not been released.

Police described the suspects as four young Black males who may be teenagers or in their early 20s. Surveillance video reportedly showed them running down Corder Street in different clothing, and one suspect was believed to have been carrying a handgun.
