More than 700 hot rods, muscle cars, street rods, trucks and motorcycles are set to line downtown Henderson's Water Street this October as Henderson Hot Rod Days returns for its seventh year, drawing spectators of all ages to a free two-day showcase of classic automotive culture.
The event is presented by the City of Henderson and the Boulder City Cruisin' Association, according to FOX5 Vegas. Vehicle registration and full event information are available at cityofhenderson.com, and per the Boulder City Cruisin' Association, this year's registration is capped at the first 700 vehicles on a first-come, first-served basis, with a $35 online registration fee per car.
Spectators, meanwhile, get in free. The station's report notes that admission is complimentary for attendees of all ages, and participating businesses throughout the Water Street District are offering special deals during a designated Hot Rod Happy Hour. Restaurants, taverns and shops that line the corridor will be part of the festivities, alongside vendors and food trucks set up on-site.
Live Entertainment, Bingo and an 80s Throwback
Beyond the cars themselves, organizers have built out a full slate of entertainment. Attendees can play car show bingo while wandering the rows of vehicles, and the event features live entertainment and DJs throughout the weekend, per the same account. On Friday night, the band Electric Avenue takes the stage, billed as an 1980s MTV experience performing new wave hits of the decade.
The free admission and concerts are made possible in part through corporate sponsorship. Headline support from Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys in 2026 allows the city and the Boulder City Cruisin' Association to keep public access free and fund complimentary live music across the two-day festival, according to Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys.
For drivers hoping to compete, the stakes go beyond bragging rights. Event organizers will award custom “Top Picks” plaques to 100 selected vehicles during the official Saturday evening awards presentation, the Boulder City Cruisin' Association says. Safety rules also apply to participants: drivers must arrive by designated morning or afternoon cutoffs and cannot move or depart their vehicles until the show officially closes, at 10 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday, a measure organizers attribute to pedestrian safety amid the large crowds expected downtown.
How the Show Compares to Last Year
Last October's iteration of Henderson Hot Rod Days drew 700 vehicles and more than 35 local vendors, headlined by a musical tribute act, Once Bitten, honoring the legacy of Jack Russell and Great White, according to 96.3 KKLZ. This year's registration cap matches that turnout, suggesting organizers expect similarly strong demand for the 700 available vehicle slots.
The Boulder City Cruisin' Association's reach extends well beyond Henderson. The group also manages a broader regional slate of classic car and boat events across Southern Nevada, including VWs Invade the Dam, the WurstDam Car Show, and Hot Boats & Cool Cars at Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina, according to Nevada Business Magazine.
A Corridor Built on Wartime Roots and Redevelopment
Water Street's name traces back to a 1941 water main buried beneath the road that once supplied the Basic Magnesium, Inc. processing plant, the industrial backbone of the wartime company town that became Henderson, according to the City of Henderson. The city established a Redevelopment Agency in 1995 to combat urban decline downtown, and later formally branded the one-mile commercial stretch as the Water Street District in 2002.
That revitalization gained real momentum after the 2019 demolition of the old Henderson Convention Center cleared the way for the $26 million Lifeguard Arena, which opened in late 2020 as the practice facility for the Henderson Silver Knights, as reported by the Las Vegas Sun. City Manager Stephanie Garcia-Vause, who took the helm in January 2025 after nearly 30 years in Henderson public service, previously led urban planning and redevelopment work for the Water Street District during her tenure as Assistant City Manager, Hoodline previously reported.
Henderson Hot Rod Days is one of several large-scale festivals that now regularly fill Water Street's public spaces, following a similar model to the city's annual St. Patrick's Day festival, which has also paired street closures with a car show organized alongside the Boulder City Cruisin' Association.
