Novato residents were told to stay indoors this morning as authorities searched for a suspect after a shooting along Alameda del Prado, shutting down a stretch of the roadway. The incident brought multiple law enforcement agencies to the area, while officials released few details about what happened.
The shooting occurred on Alameda del Prado between Ignacio Boulevard and Posada del Sol, according to KTVU. The California Highway Patrol, Novato Police Department and Marin County Sheriff’s Office responded, and authorities continued searching for a suspect.
Shelter Order Closed Key Novato Route
For residents trying to interpret the emergency alert, the Marin County Office of Emergency Management says sheltering in place means going indoors, shutting and locking doors and windows, and waiting for further instructions. The county distinguishes that directive from an evacuation order, which requires people to leave an area.
Novato police issued the shelter-in-place instruction at about 10:32 AM, while Alameda del Prado remained closed between Ignacio Boulevard and Posada del Sol. KTVU reported that no additional details were immediately available as the shooting investigation continued.
