It is not publicly known whether Knowings had a history of severe asthma attacks or what specifically triggered the August 7 emergency. Nationally, asthma causes an estimated 3,500 to 3,700 deaths annually in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with females and Black Americans experiencing disproportionately higher mortality rates.
From the Bronx to Nickelodeon's Green Room
Knowings was born in the Bronx on February 25, 1980, and her path to television reportedly began with an impromptu round of impressions performed in a green room while casting directors looked on, according to Famous Birthdays. She joined the cast of All That in 1997 after first appearing on And Now This, a Rosie O'Donnell sketch-comedy special produced by Nickelodeon.
Over her three seasons on All That, Knowings became known for playing Penny Lane and for her role as Jessica in the recurring Whateverrr!!! sketch, which she performed alongside castmate Amanda Bynes. She also parodied Figure It Out host Summer Sanders through her character Winter Wonders and appeared as news anchor Brenda Stone on the show's Channel 6 1/2 News segments, according to the Nickelodeon Wiki. Knowings' death makes her the second former All That cast member to die in 2026, following the January hit-and-run death of Kianna Underwood in Brooklyn, as TMZ previously reported. Underwood, 33, was struck by two vehicles in Brownsville, and the NYPD impounded one of the involved Ford SUVs as part of an active investigation, CBS News reported at the time, noting that Underwood had been struggling with homelessness before the fatal collision. That earlier tragedy prompted original All That cast member Angelique Bates to publicly disclose that she had posted a video back in 2023 pleading for help after learning Underwood was unhoused in New York City, expressing heartbreak that the loss came despite that earlier call for intervention.
