Expect a fast climb through the 80s and 90s, peaking near 100 Sunday afternoon. South winds will stay light at 0 to 5 mph, while the National Weather Service puts the heat index as high as 103. Skies should remain sunny, with no meaningful chance of rain.
Sunday night will stay mostly clear with a low near 77, and Monday repeats the formula with sunshine, light south-southeast winds and another high near 100. Overnight lows in the upper 70s mean limited relief after sunset, especially for people working, exercising or spending long stretches outdoors.
Triple-Digit Heat Hangs On Through Saturday
Tuesday and Wednesday are also forecast to reach 100 under mostly sunny skies, with rain chances of just 5% and 3%, respectively. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Thursday afternoon, but precipitation odds top out around 20%, while Friday and Saturday still look sunny and near 100.
Winds should generally stay between calm and 5 mph throughout the stretch, leaving little breeze to take the edge off. No watches, warnings or advisories are currently listed for Austin, but repeated 100-degree afternoons and warm nights can still be taxing without an official heat alert.
