Tuesday’s high is expected to reach 101, with heat index values climbing as high as 106. The forecast stays mostly dry and hot through the weekend, with only modest relief arriving Saturday.
Triple-Digit Heat Arrives By Afternoon
The National Weather Service expects sunny skies after the morning clouds clear, along with south winds of 5 to 10 mph. Rain chances remain near zero across Austin, and no watches, warnings or advisories are in effect. The hottest stretch should run from midafternoon into early evening, when temperatures hover near the upper 90s to 101 degrees.
Warm Nights Keep The Heat Turned On
Tuesday night will be mostly clear with a low around 78, but the humidity may still push the heat index as high as 105. South winds could gust to 20 mph overnight, offering movement in the air without much actual cooling. Wednesday looks much the same, with a high near 100 and another warm, mostly clear night.
Weekend Highs Dip Into The Upper 90s
Thursday is forecast to reach 100 degrees, followed by 99 on Friday and 97 both Saturday and Sunday. Monday brings mostly sunny skies and a high near 98, while overnight lows remain in the mid to upper 70s. A few coastal counties could see a stray sea-breeze shower later in the week, but Austin is expected to stay largely rain-free.
Plan Outdoor Time Early
For anyone working or exercising outside, the safer window will be early in the day, before the afternoon heat peaks. Drink water regularly, take breaks in shade or air conditioning, and check on neighbors, children, older adults and pets. During extreme heat, Austin officials say public libraries and parks facilities can serve as cooling centers during normal operating hours.
