The Backstreet Boys are heading back to Sphere for New Year's Eve weekend, adding shows on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1-2 that will push their total performance count at the venue toward 60. Tickets go on sale at Ticketmaster.com at 10 a.m. PT on Aug. 21.
The new dates extend a residency that has become one of the defining runs in Sphere's short history. As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the additional December and January performances will bring the group's cumulative Sphere show count to 60, putting them within striking distance of the Eagles, whose own residency at the venue has reached 72 shows after the classic rock band recently tacked on four more dates in January. This will mark the second consecutive year the Backstreet Boys have closed out the calendar at Sphere, having also performed there on New Year's Eve in December 2025.
A Residency Built on Nostalgia and Numbers
“Into the Millennium” opened in July 2025 as a celebration of the band's 1999 album Millennium, and it made the Backstreet Boys the first pop act to headline a residency at the venue, according to Universal Music Canada. The show's staying power has been striking: across its first 47 sold-out performances before the latest round of additions, the residency drew more than 750,000 attendees, per BroadwayWorld, with fan club members traditionally showing up dressed in all white as a nod to the Millennium album cover.
That kind of sustained demand fits into the larger economics reshaping the Strip. Sphere was named the world's highest-grossing arena in Billboard's 2025 global revenue rankings, generating $370.3 million in ticket sales across 105 shows and 1.2 million attendees, outpacing venues like Madison Square Garden and London's O2 Arena. Completed in 2023 at a cost of $2.3 billion, the 366-foot-tall venue seats 17,600 and features a 16K interior LED display alongside a 580,000-square-foot exterior screen, specs that have pushed touring acts to build entirely new visual productions just for its stage.
New Year's Eve Weekend and a Booming Holiday Crowd
The New Year's Eve weekend booking lands during one of Las Vegas' busiest stretches of the year. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority projected 340,000 to 345,000 holiday visitors for the New Year's Eve that ushered in 2026, driving citywide hotel occupancy near 95% capacity as average nightly room rates surged to nearly $294 across the Strip. During that same celebration, Sphere hosted hourly global countdowns projected across its exterior LED screen starting at 5 a.m., a display that Hoodline previously reported synchronized Las Vegas with midnight time zones around the world and coincided with fireworks launching from ten Strip resorts.
Floor-seat concertgoers heading to Sphere this winter will also find a newer perk waiting for them. Delta Air Lines opened the Delta SKY360° Club on the venue's event level in February, marking Sphere's first official airline partnership and its first branded VIP hospitality space, with floor ticket holders receiving pre-show lounge access.
A Movie Tie-In and an Unlikely Friendship
The residency's return comes as the band juggles a separate promotional push tied to family entertainment. The Backstreet Boys released the single Bottle Up, written by Ed Sheeran and Savan Kotecha for PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, on June 12, ahead of the animated film's Aug. 14 theatrical release. The track features AJ McLean, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough and Brian Littrell alongside PAW Patrol characters Marshall, Chase, Skye, Rubble, Rocky and Rex.
That project produced an unexpected celebrity moment. Kevin Richardson, 54, met Snoop Dogg for the first time at the film's premiere on Aug. 2; Snoop, also 54, voices the character Dave in the movie. The Backstreet Boys' Instagram page shared photos of the two hugging, and Baylee Littrell commented on the post, “I've been waiting for this moment my whole life.”
Between the film promotion, a November headlining slot at the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix afterparty inside Sphere, and now a third straight New Year's Eve weekend on the Sphere stage, the Backstreet Boys have turned Las Vegas into something closer to a second home base than a tour stop.
