Baltimore gets one more mostly sunny, summerlike day before the weather turns stormy. Early Wednesday, temperatures were near 67 degrees, with a high around 86 expected and little chance of rain.
The National Weather Service says east winds will gradually turn southerly Wednesday, reaching about 10 mph by afternoon. Those winds will help push warmer, more humid air into the city ahead of the next front.
Thursday Brings The Bigger Weather Risk
Showers and thunderstorms could begin after 2 a.m. Thursday, with a 60% chance of precipitation during the day and storms becoming more likely later in the afternoon. Thursday’s high should reach about 88 degrees before showers and storms continue into the evening.
Forecasters say some storms could become severe, with damaging winds the main concern. Large hail is also possible, and a tornado cannot be ruled out, so outdoor plans should include a way to get indoors quickly if storms develop.
Boaters Face Stronger Winds Wednesday Night
A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for portions of the Chesapeake from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Thursday. Southerly gusts could reach 18 mph overnight, with choppier conditions possible on the water.
Weekend Trends Drier Before Next Week Heats Up
Friday stays warm, with a high near 86 and a 30% chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms. Conditions become drier by Saturday, when Baltimore can expect partly sunny skies and a high around 84.
Mostly sunny weather returns Sunday with a high near 87, but the heat builds quickly after that. Monday may reach 92 degrees, followed by a high near 93 Tuesday and a small chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
