Baltimore Weather Forecast: Sunny Tuesday And Wednesday, Storms Thursday

Baltimore starts Tuesday with temperatures in the mid-70s and plenty of humidity, but the city is headed for a mostly sunny afternoon. The temperature should climb to about 88 degrees, with light north winds and only a small chance of a stray shower. In other words, the umbrella can stay home unless you are headed well south of the city.

A few isolated showers or thunderstorms could pop up from southern Maryland into Virginia later Tuesday, but coverage is expected to remain low around Baltimore. The National Weather Service expects high pressure to settle in through midweek, keeping conditions mostly dry and calm.

Clear Skies Hold Through Wednesday

Tuesday night should be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 70 degrees and light northwest winds. Wednesday will bring another sunny day and a high near 89, making it the warmest and driest part of the short-term forecast.

The first hints of a weather change arrive late Wednesday night, when there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. The overnight low should stay near 73 degrees, so it will remain warm even as clouds begin to increase.

Storm Chances Rise Thursday And Continue Into Weekend

Thursday is the pivot point, with showers and thunderstorms likely and an 80% chance of precipitation. Baltimore could reach about 86 degrees, but interruptions from rain and lightning are possible throughout the day and into Thursday night.

Scattered storm chances continue Friday through Sunday, with highs generally in the low to mid-80s and overnight lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Friday brings a 40% rain chance, while Saturday could see showers and thunderstorms both during the day and at night; Sunday looks somewhat less wet but still carries a chance of afternoon storms.

Monday currently offers a calmer finish, with sunny skies, a high near 84 degrees and a low around 67 overnight. No watches, warnings or advisories are posted for Baltimore in the current forecast, but outdoor plans from Thursday through Sunday should include a backup indoor option.
