Baltimore is waking up to sticky air Saturday before temperatures climb toward 94 degrees, with the heat index reaching around 100. The morning should stay mostly sunny, but showers and thunderstorms may move in during the late afternoon and early evening.
Storms Could Arrive After 3 P.M.
The best chance for rain comes between roughly 3 and 7 p.m., when isolated to scattered storms could bring brief heavy downpours, frequent lightning and gusty winds. The National Weather Service’s Baltimore/Washington office says damaging wind gusts are the primary severe-weather concern, while localized flooding remains possible in urban areas.
No watches or warnings were listed for Baltimore early Saturday, but the forecast carries a marginal risk of severe weather, or Level 1 out of 5. New rainfall should generally stay below a tenth of an inch, though thunderstorms can still drop more rain in a short burst, according to the National Weather Service.
Heat Builds Sunday And Monday
Sunday and Monday look mostly sunny and even hotter, with highs near 94 and 95 degrees, respectively. Overnight lows will only fall to the mid-70s, keeping Baltimore’s streets and homes slow to cool off after sunset.
The heat index could approach 105 degrees along the urban corridor Monday and Tuesday, making outdoor work, exercise and long stretches in direct sun more demanding. Tuesday brings another high near 94, along with a 50% chance of afternoon and nighttime showers and thunderstorms.
Cooler Weather May Arrive Late Week
Storm chances remain elevated Wednesday, when the high is forecast near 89, before temperatures settle around 90 Thursday and 86 Friday. A cold front could push through late next week, bringing a more noticeable break from the heat and humidity by the following weekend.
