Baltimore's Four College Hoops Powers Unite for New 410 Invitational at Towson

Four of Baltimore's Division I basketball programs are teaming up this fall for a brand-new tournament named after the city's own area code. Towson, Loyola Maryland, UMBC and Morgan State will send both their men's and women's basketball teams into the inaugural 410 Invitational, a round-robin event powered by Baltimore-based Under Armour, with the biggest games landing at Towson's SECU Arena in mid-November 2026.

The tournament opens with men's basketball games on Thursday, November 12, 2026, according to WBFF. Morgan State travels to UMBC that night for a 6 p.m. tip-off, while Loyola Maryland visits Towson for a 7 p.m. matchup. The women's side follows the next day, Friday, November 13, with Towson heading to Loyola Maryland at 11 a.m. and Morgan State facing UMBC at 6:30 p.m., per the same report.

Under Armour announced that the men's and women's teams from all four schools will compete in what is planned as an annual round-robin tournament, per WBFF's report. Todd Locklear of Under Armour said the event is an opportunity to celebrate the basketball culture in Baltimore while creating an experience that feels bigger than the game for the student-athletes involved. He also said Under Armour is proud to bring together four local programs and spotlight the energy, talent and pride of the collegiate community, according to the outlet.

Consolation and Title Games Move to SECU Arena

After the opening round at the participating campuses, the tournament shifts to Towson's 5,200-seat SECU Arena for its consolation and championship rounds. Men's final-round games are set for Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with the women's finals following Sunday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., according to Towson University Athletics. SECU Arena opened in 2013 and serves as the home court for Towson Tigers basketball.

All four consolation and championship games at SECU Arena will be broadcast live regionally on Monumental Sports Network, giving fans across the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. markets a way to follow along without a ticket. Early-bird ticket packages for the SECU Arena games went on sale starting at $20, discounted from $25, with single-day and all-session pass options available for the weekend showcase that follows the opening-round host sites on Nov. 12-13.

A Rotating, Multi-Year Tradition in the Making

Towson Vice President of Athletics Dr. Steven Eigenbrot confirmed the 410 Invitational is structured as a multi-year annual event with a rotating host format shared among the four participating universities. That structure marks a shift for a region where Baltimore-area non-conference matchups have historically been scheduled on more of an ad-hoc basis. The tournament's name is a direct nod to the region's identity: 410 has been the primary telephone area code for Baltimore and its surrounding metro area since 1991, according to BVM Sports.

Part of what makes the field notable is its competitive diversity. Towson competes in the Coastal Athletic Association, Loyola Maryland plays in the Patriot League, UMBC belongs to the America East Conference, and Morgan State competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, per Towson University Athletics. Morgan State represents Baltimore's prominent historically Black university Division I athletic program, adding another layer to the local rivalry angle the tournament is built around.

Under Armour's Waterfront Campus Plays a Role Off the Court

Beyond the games themselves, off-court programming for student-athletes will take place at Under Armour's global headquarters on the Baltimore Peninsula, complemented by an official pre-tournament media day scheduled for Oct. 28, 2026. That headquarters campus includes Sports House, a 280,000-square-foot facility housing corporate offices, innovation spaces and a 24,000-square-foot flagship retail store that opened in December 2024, as part of a broader Baltimore Peninsula project that transformed 235 acres of former industrial waterfront into a mixed-use district.

Under Armour's ties to the participating schools run deeper than tournament sponsorship. The company and Morgan State Athletics established a department-wide apparel partnership in October 2020, making Under Armour the official outfitter for all Bear athletic teams, according to Morgan State University.

Morgan State Enters With Momentum Under Broadus

Morgan State men's basketball head coach Kevin Broadus, the reigning MEAC Coach of the Year, will lead the Bears into the 410 Invitational as part of a 15-game non-conference schedule that also includes road games at Maryland and Auburn, according to Morgan State University Athletics. With the tournament's first tip-off still months away, the four programs are betting that a shared, recurring stage can turn scattered local matchups into a genuine Baltimore basketball tradition.
