Baltimore is starting Tuesday in the mid-70s, but the city is headed for another hot, humid afternoon with a high near 91 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms could develop later in the day, making outdoor plans and the evening commute a little dicey.
Storms Could Turn Serious By Afternoon
The National Weather Service is calling for a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday, with the greatest concern coming during the afternoon and evening. Stronger storms could bring damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, locally heavy rain and isolated flash flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain chances rise to 40% Tuesday night as skies turn mostly cloudy and temperatures fall to around 72 degrees. The forecast allows for a quarter to a half-inch of rain overnight, and a Flood Watch is listed through late tonight for parts of Maryland, although no active alert is currently listed for the Baltimore forecast point.
More Storm Chances Before A Weekend Cooldown
Wednesday should be slightly cooler, with a high near 88 and a chance of showers before a few possible thunderstorms. Thursday could be the hottest day of the stretch at around 91 degrees, while Friday stays warm near 88 with another slight chance of storms.
The pattern finally breaks Saturday, when sunny skies and a high near 82 arrive with lower humidity. Sunday looks warmer at about 85 degrees, with mostly sunny conditions early and a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.

Winds will stay light from the west at roughly 3 to 8 mph, but thunderstorms could produce much stronger gusts for short periods. Anyone heading outside should keep an eye on changing skies, move indoors quickly if thunder is heard and avoid driving through water covering the road.
